Favorites of 2011, part 4

February 19, 2012

It’s fun to look back and remember all the good times last year. The three photographs above are from the wedding of Kim Phelps and Andy Locke.

The ones below are from the marriage of Megan Carrochi and Jason Mather.

Thank you all for great memories.

Favorites of 2011, part 1

January 2, 2012

I’d like to take a minute to thank everyone for making 2011 a very good year — not just the brides and grooms, but the families, wedding parties and guests. I enjoyed every minute of every wedding.

And I want to thank all of you for looking at my blog. It was viewed 14,000 times in 2011! The busiest day was June 13 with 336 visits. Most of those people were looking at photographs from the Rachel Hollis-Josh Imes wedding, so I’ll start my Favorites of 2011 with two shots from their day.

It’s about having fun

December 10, 2011

This is not your mother’s wedding photography. Brides today want it all — a lot of fun, informal  shots, photojournalism, some classic family photos and something artistic for their wall.

And the whole process should be fun. There’s no reason for photography to be a painful experience.

These pictures of Kristen Shilling Fisher were done at beautiful Lily Manor in Mifflin, PA. Thank you, Kristen, for being a fantastic model.

Partial portraits

March 27, 2011

Who says a portrait has to show the whole face? Sometimes, it’s more effective if it doesn’t.

“Faceless portraits” are fun, too. Scroll down to June and July 2010 for some examples.

Heidi

February 12, 2011

Heidi Gingerich had a great idea: portraits as a surprise present for her fiance, Keith Altiery, right before their wedding. The shoot was last fall, but I promised not to post anything until after they were married. (Scroll down just a little to see some of their wedding pictures.)

Portraits are fun because they lend themselves to different treatments — some color, some black and white, some special effects. They’re also a great opportunity for me to learn about you.

Portraits make great gifts for birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries, too.

Tasha and Ryan

February 6, 2011

Tasha Moore and Ryan Granville are great. They arrived with suggestions for their engagement portraits, which is always fine with me. Collaboration makes the pictures better.

I just received a really nice email from Tasha: “You did such and amazing job.  Ryan’s parents love them and my parents love them.  My mom said to me, ‘You definitely made the right decision on a photographer, he will do an amazing job on your wedding.’ And I agree with her.”

Thank you, Tasha

Their wedding will be July 16 in Hollidaysburg.

A very good year

January 2, 2011

The stats monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how Jan did in 2010, and his blog is on fire!

Healthy blog!

Happy New Year, everyone.

Here’s the second installment I promised: more of my favorite images of 2010.

Favorites of 2010, part 1

December 16, 2010

This has been one of my best years, and I want to thank everyone for being so wonderful to work for. You made 2010 a joy.

I also want to post some of my favorite images from the year, with more to come right after Christmas.

Travis

Travis Witmer was great to photograph — fun, interesting, willing to try different things. He’s a senior at Penns Valley High School.
